Using google.COM omnibar search while overseas

Please describe your question/comment in detail (for example, steps to reproduce the problem):
When I do an omnibar search while overseas, all searches are done on the international version of Google's site (e.g. specific to my current location. This occurs even if my cookies are set to use by default (by clicking " in English‏" on the international google page). I have tried modifying the search url in the settings to "{google:RLZ}{google:acceptedSuggestion}{google:originalQueryForSuggestion}sourceid=chrome&ie={inputEncoding}&q=%s". This works, however I now no longer get suggestions in the omnibar. Is there anyway to force chrome to use google.COM, yet still receive omnibar suggestions?

Google Chrome version (type about:version into the address bar): 5.0.342.9 beta
