Is there a way to get the bar that appears at the bottom of the page when I download a file to go away after a while?

As it is now, I have to click the "x" to regain my screen real estate.  I want the bar to fade away on its own.

how i transfere my 30 or so bookmarks from standard windows internet explorer to google chrome?

i go to import bookmarks in tools…it then sais it has done it…but the i go to find a bookmark that i origanaly had on windows internet explorer and it is empty..i need all of them as they are for uni…but i also would realy like to use google chrome…can anybody help me?
